January Reads

February 9, 2015

As I mentioned in my 2015 Goals post, I want to read more this year.

Since I have no one to do a book club with, I have decided to start a book club with me, myself and I :) I surprised myself and finished not one, but TWO books this past month.

When I was in Colorado over Christmas, we went to a used bookstore. After looking through lots and lots of books, my sister read the back of this one and immediately handed it to me saying something like “sounds like you will relate to this” and I totally did. This was a fun, light read about a mom and her journey thus far through motherhood. The expectations and the realities. The second half of the book was about her daughters toddler and elementary years, so I know what I have to look forward to :)

When I put this book on hold through the library, oh I don’t know, 3 years ago, I didn’t expect to receive it so soon. I think I was 147 on the wait list and there were about 5 copies floating through the entire San Diego library system. Anyways, I finally got my hands on it and it was so hard to put down. I read one of her other books (You Before Me) which was very good, too. Despite my draw to non-fiction, this is fiction and was still enjoyable. This is about a struggling mother with 2 kids that are a little different and her desire for something better for them. On their journey they’re helped by a well-to-do man who has every intention of not helping them, but does. Aaaaaand, I’m sure you can figure out how the ending goes.

Now for my February reads!
