Organizational Tools That Keep me Sane
June 8, 2012This week has been so crazy and I fear think the next couple weeks will just be crazier.
There has been absolutely NO downtime this week. I’ve literally felt like I had to schedule in bathroom and eating breaks. I actually missed the gym one day this week because I was that busy and that is a rare occurrence ladies and gents. The gym is my stress/anxiety reliever. It gets all the good endorphins flowing. I don’t go every day, but if I write it on my to-do list, it’s hard for me to say “it’s okay if you don’t go today.” That’s where my to-do list bites me in the buttocks.
Along with finding time to eat, and go to the bathroom, I have also been trying to find time to sleep. My perfect sleep schedule would include 12 hours a night. Or at least 10 hours a night during the week. I’m extremely irritated confused by people that only need 4 hours of sleep per night. How in the world do they function? Have they always been like that, or have they trained their body to only need that much? Is that healthy? If I were to want to be that way, where would I start? Think of how many things I could add to my to-do list if I had an extra 7+ hours (of awake time) per day!
With having such a crazy week, the following items are things that help get me through, make sure I don’t forget anything and keep me looking forward to what’s happening in a couple weeks!
{Iphone Calendar: I live and die by this. I also long for the month where I don’t have something to do nearly every day. Eye on the prize. Eye on the prize.}
{Google Docs: Amazing and I couldn’t live without this right now. All you need is the Internet and you can update your document from wherever you are. Key when things change throughout the day and you need to stay up-to-date. Most popular document I’m updating right now is “Wedding Countdown” (not so much a countdown, but another to-do list).}
{Iphone Notes: Something else I live and die by. I’m constantly updating
and checking on my notes.}
I really wish I was one of those people that could just live with the above. Unfortunately I LOVE writing my to-do list each week. It’s a ritual I have every Sunday night. My “to-do” list runs every Monday – Sunday. I will re-write my to-do list if it gets messy or if I have to move to-do’s around. Nothing compares to the satisfaction of getting everything done. Rarely do I get to cross everything off though because usually something else comes up, or I prematurely put an item on my list just because I was lacking enough to-do’s that day. I make light of it, but it’s probably a sickness.
I was going to post a picture of my actual hand-written to-do list, but I’m kind of embarrassed by it. So, just imagine your hand-written to-do list :)
Happy Friday!
