Lemon Glazed Christmas Cookies

December 13, 2011

When you think of glazed lemon cookies, you don’t exactly think of Christmas cookies, do ya?

Well, ’round here chocolate cookies aren’t welcomed by 50% of the household and the other 50% of the household (read: me) is not a huge sugar cookie fan. SOOOO, what to make for my Cookie Exchange at work (because 100% of the household needs to participate in a taste-test)??

99% of the reason I decided to make these glazed lemon cookies is because I could finally use my edible star glitter. I think the stars make them look so much more Christmas-y and festive!

As depicted by one of the pictures below, it’ll be obvious that I didn’t follow the recipe to a “t” as far as the order of ingredients go. I was brought back to 6th grade and I was in the cafeteria for my 6th grade Science Fair…. I mixed the lemon juice with the baking soda and I thought there was some lava in my mixing bowl :)

{lemon zest}

{my science project}

{gettin’ glazed.. I practically licked the bowl clean, the glaze was so good}

{gettin’ glittered}

{all ready!}

These were very simple to make and very zesty! I finally think my cookies look something like Martha Stewart’s actual lemon glazed cookies ;)
