Jar ‘o Thanks.

November 1, 2011

I’m starting a Thanksgiving tradition…

A “Jar ‘o Thanks”! Every day in November Matt and I are going to write one thing we’re thankful for, then on Thanksgiving we’re going to read them :)

It’s so easy to get caught up in the busyness of life and the “not-enough-time-in-the-day” attitude that you forget to “stop and smell the roses” and “count your blessings”. (Yes, I just put those 2 sayings in one sentence- point for me). Life has been very busy these last few months with work, the holiday’s approaching, planning a wedding and just life in general, so I’m hoping this little jar will be a gentle reminder that there are lots of things we should be thankful for, but typically take for granted (ie. having a car to get to work, having a job, having a choice of what to eat for dinner, etc). I think it will be fun to read these at the end of the month and see what kinds of things we’re thankful for… especially if we had a bad day. I might just be thankful that there is a new episode of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills on TV that night.

To make this jar, I cut out letters from scrap paper, glued the letters to a strip of paper, glued toothpicks to the back of the sign then glued another strip of paper to cover the toothpicks. I glued some floral foam to the lid of the ol’ spaghetti jar and stuck the toothpicks in, then covered it all up with some crinkle paper (and filled the jar with some crinkle paper to make it pretty). I tore some pieces of yellow paper and placed them in a jar right next to the Jar ‘o Thanks so there’s no excuse to not write a thankful note :)

{I used my handy-dandy Cricut machine to cut the letters}

If you ever stop by our pad, you’re more than welcome to write what you’re thankful for :)

    You are the sweetest girl ever!!! I am so grateful that you are in Matt’s life. I am grateful you two are so in love. I am grateful for the love I see in both of you everytime I am around you. oxo. I have a “gratitude booklet”, I write in it most every day. I’ll write on slip of paper this month too, we can share later.
