Oreo Truffles- Valentine’s Style

January 17, 2011

I made these Oreo Truffles for some Christmas packages this past year. They were so delicious that I was craving them less than 2 weeks later!!

I decided to use “going- to-Santa-Monica-to-visit-some-great-girlfriends-{and their babies}-for-the-weekend” as an excuse to make them again! Since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, I made some of them valentine-ish with  cute heart sprinkles. Actually, can they be called “sprinkles” when they’re the size of corn kernels and not a speck? Hmmm..

These truffles are great because they’re quick, easy and require only 3 ingredients- Oreos, cream cheese and candy coating. The recipe calls for Baker’s chocolate to be used for the coating, but I used regular candy coating because I feel like it gives a smoother finish.

Regarding the decoration, if you want to decorate the truffles with sprinkles, do this when the chocolate is still wet. If you want to drizzle the truffles with chocolate, you can do this after the chocolate hardens in the fridge.
